Mentoring Projects

The Frontline Management Institute has carried out many mentoring projects over the last few years. Listed below are some sample projects. Please contact us if you would like help or advice in developing mentoring in your own organisation.

Mentoring in Management Development Programs - Client Industry: Various
Since 1998 fmi has used mentoring as a key element in a variety of management development programs (MDPs) that have been tailored for a variety of clients both large and small. These mentors play a key role in the development and assessment of managers in fmi programs leading to Diploma or Certificate IV programs. Mentors are usually experienced managers in the organisation who are (usually) not in a direct line to the MDP participants. Mentors are trained by fmi and then advise on Strategic Workplace Improvement Projects that participants undertake as part of their development. Fmi provides structured format and guidelines for these projects and mentors sign off on these projects as part of the assessment submission.
Fmi can also provide outside mentors although we strongly recommend using internal mentors wherever possible.

Developing a Mentoring Program - Client Industry: Superannuation
For this project our client asked us to help them implement a new mentoring program. Protocols had been determined and we trained a range of mentors in both the structure of the mentoring system and the skills of mentoring.
The program was very successful and was repeated later for further mentors.

Mentoring Briefing and Support - Client WorkCover NSW
WorkCover NSW, the workplace safety regulatory body for NSW Australia, have developed a terrific safety mentoring program in close co-operation with construction and manufacturing industries. Basically Safety Managers from large organisation mentor Safety Managers from smaller organisations over a period of about 9 months. With dozens of companies involved this is a very innovative and exciting project. Fmi was delighted to be invited to help with briefing mentors on their role and skills.

Mentor Training: Clients Mentors from a wide Variety of Organisations
fmi's mentor training program "Mentoring at Work" has been delivered to a large number of mentors from a variety of organisations. This program has been tailored for in-house delivery for groups of mentors. Individual mentors can attend fmi's public courses in Sydney.
